JAKARTA PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), as Pertamina's Upstream Subholding, proves its existence in the world of upstream international-scale oil and gas through the International Association of Oil & Gas Producer (IOGP) Summit in Nusa Dua, Bali which carries the theme Explore the Potential which has a philosophy of exploring potential in various aspects to provide the best performance and maintain the sustainability of energy supply.

PHE's Director of Development and Production, Awang Lazuardi, said that through the implementation of these activities, his party aims to explore the crucial role of Geomatics in supporting operational activities in challenging environments such as deep seas, remote areas, and mature fields.

"This is very significant to ensure the main focus challenge, namely the sustainability of energy supply," said Awang in a statement to the media, Friday, October 20.

Awang further explained that currently the upstream oil and gas industry is faced with a trilema of energy, namely balancing energy security, affordability, and sustainability.

In his opening speech, Graham Henley, CEO of the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP) said the aim of the IOGP is to unify our industry globally, as experts in our field, as well as to develop and implement the best practices in dealing with critical challenges in the oil and gas industry. earth.

"This Summit activity aims to place the IOGP in Asia Pacific as a partner for the industry in addressing important issues about energy transition, and more in particular, the availability of energy," he said.

Present at the same activity, the Director of Upstream Oil and Gas Business Development at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Noor Arifin Muhammad emphasized that fossil energy has a significant role in supplying national energy needs at this time.

In addition, the Government has also set a national production target of 1 million barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 12 billion cubic feet per day (BSCFD) by 2030. We also have the task of reducing emissions from fossil energy, so at this time we are also regulating regulations regarding carbon capture utilization storage/carbon capture storage (CCUS/CCS) to increase investment attraction. We believe that hard work, cooperation, communication, and openness between stakeholders can support the achievement of resilience and energy sustainability," explained Noor.

The IOGP Summit 2023 features resource persons who are experts in their fields including the Government, Academic Experts, members of the IOGP, and partners. This is reflected in collaborative efforts with leading organizations such as the Indonesian Geospatial Information Agency (BIG), the Indonesian Center for Marine Hydrography and Oceanography (Pushidrosal), Universities, and the Geomatics Department of IOGP members in the Asia Pacific region.

In addition to panel discussions, workshop Decommissioning Regional Industry is also carried out which is expected to improve the network of workshop participants in terms of seeking innovation for planning and implementation of decommissioning. Decommissioning is an activity to close facilities and restore environmental conditions around facilities, which is one of the stages in the cycle of oil and gas projects.

PHE will continue to invest in upstream oil and gas operations and business management according to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. PHE has been registered with the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) as a member since June 2022. PHE is committed to Ten Universal Principles or Ten Principles of the UNC in its strategy and operations, as part of implementing the ESG aspect.

Supporting the Government aspect, PHE is also always committed to Zero Tolerance on Bribery by ensuring that prevention of fraud is carried out and ensuring that the company is clean from bribery. Another major activity is the 12th IOGP Geomatics Industry Day with the main goal of exploring the role of Geomatics in supporting the oil and gas business process for new potentials (deep water, remote area & near field / nature field) by considering several aspects, such as HSSE risk management, cost efficiency, operational effectiveness and transition energy to net zero, to ensuring the sustainability of global energy supply and supporting sustainable development goals (SDG Goals 2030).

Another major event in this series is the Asia Pacific Regional Workshop with a main focus on energy trilemma, energy transition and exploring the potential for collaboration in the Asia Pacific region.
