On National Electricity Day, MKI And Enlit Encourage Clean Energy Transition

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Electricity Society (MKI) in collaboration with Enlit Asia held the 78th National Electricity Day of Enlit Asia 2023 on November 14-16, 2023 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition, BSD.

Secretary General of the Indonesian Electricity Society & Chief Executive of HLN78, Arsyadany G Akmalaputri explained, this event is to provide updates on the latest technology and innovation in the energy and electricity industry in order to encourage energy transitions not only in Indonesia, but also throughout ASEAN.

"Every year, Enlit Asia also encourages greater collaboration across industries by involving all stakeholders in the Asean energy sector, from policymakers and regulators to technology providers to consumers in one platform," he told the media. press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday 18 October.

He explained that Indonesia has a New and Renewable Energy (EBT) target of 23 percent in the national energy mix by 2025. Commitment continues to be increased, including setting the Net Zero Emission target by 2060 or even faster, sharpening commitments to a cleaner and more sustainable energy system.

Present on the same occasion, Secretary of the Directorate General of Electricity, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia, Ida Nuryatin Finahari said, Indonesia continues to take concrete steps in efforts to reduce GRK emissions, through Enhanced NDC2030 with an increase in the target from the energy sector to 358 million tons of CO2e (31.89 percent) with its own capabilities and 43.20 percent with international support.

"In an effort to achieve this target, the mitigation action to reduce GRK emissions in the electricity sub-sector continues to be encouraged, among others, through the construction of PLTU Clean Coal Technology, the operation of New Gas Power Plants, Renewable Energy Plants connected to the network (on-grid)," said Ida.

In addition, Ida said that the energy transition process requires strengthening collaboration from all stakeholders starting from the government, private sector, and the community because the challenges are not easy.

Indonesia as an archipelagic country has great potential for the development of New and Renewable Energy (EBT) but its location is spread with a technology understanding level that is not yet uniform, so socialization and massive and continuous literacy increases are needed so that public acceptance of the use of EBT continues to increase, especially those around EBT-based power plants.

"The huge potential of EBT in the country certainly needs to be optimized. Therefore, the government as a regulator synergizes with PT PLN (Persero) as operator. One of the synergies built is by presenting the development of EBT power plants beyond the details of the General Electricity Supply Plan (RUPTL) of PT PLN (Persero) 2019-2038," explained Ida. Meanwhile.

Director of Risk Management of PT PLN (Persero), Suroso Isnandar said, PLN and the Government have prepared an Electric Power Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) in order to support the energy transition program.

PLN is also working to make green energy a service for the community through green electricity products from EBT electricity.

"In addition, the 78th National Electricity Day of the Asian Enlit 2023 which is an international scale event in the field of energy and electricity, is an event for us to continue to look for partners to exchange ideas and ideas in order to answer various changes and challenges in the energy sector in the country," said Suroso.
