The Construction Of The Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat Toll Road Is Targeted To Be Completed By The End Of 2023

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) continues to accelerate the construction of the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat (Kutepat) Toll Road to support connectivity towards the Lake Toba Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP).

It is targeted that the construction of toll roads starting from Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi to the Sinaksak Toll Gate in Simalungun Regency will be completed 100 percent by the end of 2023. The toll road itself has a total length of 143.25 kilometers (km) built under the Government Cooperation with Business Entity (KPBU) scheme by BUJT PT Hutama Marga Waskita.

"So, if until 2023 from Kuala Tanjung to Tebing Tinggi, 100 percent of the construction can be completed and from Tebing Tinggi to Sinaksak the construction can also be completed," said Corporate Secretary of PT Hutama Marga Waskita Ergy Pramadipta in a written statement, Saturday, October 7th.

Edgy said the construction was divided into 6 sections, namely Section 1 Tebing Tinggi-Indrapura for 20.4 km, now it has been completed 100 percent, Section 2 Indrapura-Kuala Tanjung for 18.05 km has reached 95.36 percent, and Section 3 Tebing Tinggi-Serbelawan for 30 km has reached 87.6 percent.

Then, Section 4 Serbelawan-Pematang Siantar along 28 km has reached 68.71 percent. Meanwhile, Section 5 Pematang Siantar-Siribudolok and Section 6 Seribudolok-Parapat are projected to be 50 km long as government support and are currently still in the design finalization stage.

"We are also completing the connecting of the High Cliff Junction which connects the Medan-Kualanamu-Tebing Tinggi (JMKT) Toll Road which is targeted for completion this year, only renovations," he said.

According to Ergy, the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat Toll Road for the Tebing Tinggi-Indrapura Section and parts of Section 2 Indrapura-Kuala Tanjung have been tested for Functional Feasibility (ULF).

After the toll road Function Feasibility Test is complete and repairs have been made to the results of the inspection by the Functional Feasibility Test Team, then will receive a function-worthy certificate, so that it can be operated according to the operating period.

As support for connectivity towards Lake Toba tourism, said Ergy, his party also introduced local ornaments at each toll gate. For example, the Sinaksak Toll Gate has the ornament of the Buffalo Head as an icon of Simalungun Regency and the Dolok Toll Gate against Malay ornaments.

"We hope that the construction of the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat Toll Road until the Sinaksak Toll Gate can be completed this year and can be proposed to be inaugurated immediately," he concluded.

For your information, the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat Toll Road is part of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road that connects Tebing Tinggi with Kuala Tanjung Port, so that it can support the development of Lake Toba industrial and tourism areas for the Tebing Tinggi-Parapat section.
