Digitization Of Pertamina, Increase Efficiency, Performance, And Competitiveness

JAKARTA - Executive Director of the Center of Reform on Economics (CORE) Indonesia Mohammad Faisal welcomed the optimization of digitalization carried out by PT Pertamina (Persero). As a global necessity, BUMN energy efforts play an important role in increasing efficiency, performance, and competitiveness.

"Digitalization will increase Pertamina's efficiency, performance, and competitiveness. This is indeed needed, because Pertamina must continue to compete. Both with the private sector and other SOEs abroad," explained Faisal to the media, Friday, September 29.

Faisal said that digitalization in the oil and gas industry is indeed expected to reduce production costs while increasing efficiency. Likewise Pertamina. In the upstream sector, for example, digitization will reduce oil and gas exploration costs.

"Thus, operational costs will be lower so that the level of opinion and level of profit will be higher," he said.

Of course not only related to exploration. According to Faisal, in terms of management, logistics, oil refinery industry, and even marketing, the application of digitalization certainly targets efficiency that reduces production costs and efficiency that reduces time costs.

"So the production time is faster, of course it will end up at a higher level of profit," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding competitiveness, he continued, digitalization is a necessity, a future trend which is also related to the context of wider nature business, expansion, not only in Indonesia but also between countries.

For this reason, he continued, the optimization of digitalization must continue to be encouraged. Especially in SOEs like Pertamina, whose business is not only domestically, but has penetrated foreign countries. Under these conditions, he continued, it is very possible for Pertamina to digitize in all business processes.

"Sebagai BUMN besar, digitalisasi Pertamina juga harus lebih advance untuk bersaing dengan BUMN asing. Karena kita tahu di negara maju, termasuk Temasek di Singapura, rata-rata digitalisasi mereka juga lebih advance," imbuh Faisal.

Previously, at the 2023 State-Owned Enterprises Digital Forum (FORDIGI) this week, Pertamina did convey its determination to run a business by utilizing digital technology. In order to create a more aggressive and efficient business, Pertamina optimizes operational performance by strengthening digitization in all its business lines, from upstream, processing to marketing.

The current supply chain has utilized digital technology.
