JAKARTA - Pertamina's largest project, the Balikpapan Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) has reached 82 percent.

The Balikpapan RDMP has a total of 5,203 equipment weighing up to 110,000 tons.

The heaviest equipment is in the Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracking (RFCC) First Regenerator weighing 1,099 tons. While the highest equipment is Propane/Proylene with a height of about 110 meters.

The Balikpapan RDMP will increase the processing capacity of Pertamina's refineries by 100,000 barrels per day, so that at the same time it will reduce fuel imports.

Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati said the Balikpapan RDMP project had the highest level of difficulty because at the same time the existing refinery had to continue operating.

"We have to make sure the project continues to operate with high safety and reliability," said Nicke Widyawati in a statement to the media, Friday, September 29.

Nicke said, this project is divided into two, namely to increase capacity first, then the second is to improve quality plus increase products from petrochemical and LPG.

"For this additional capacity, of course, it will automatically reduce fuel imports by 100,000 barrels per day and this has a very big impact on Indonesia's Current Account Deficit," said Nicke.

Nicke added that the quality of products produced by the Balikpapan RDMP will also be increased from the Euro2 standard to Euro5 so that it is more environmentally friendly in accordance with the standards set by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK).
