OJK Reminds People To Beware Of Illegal Loans: If Legal, The Offer Will Make More Sense

JAKARTA - The Regional IV Financial Services Authority (OJK) of East Java together with members of Commission XI of the DPR conducted socialization and counseling on illegal fraudulent investments and online loans (Pinjol) to residents of Surabaya.

Representative of Regional Office IV OJK East Java Doni Arifiyanto in his statement Monday, September 25, said that currently there are many illegal lending platforms that offer convenience but are actually suffering.

"If you really need a loan from an online application, we urge you to choose a legal loan platform," he said, quoted by Antara.

During the socialization in Kedungbaruk, Rungkut, Surabaya on Sunday, September 24, Doni also appealed to the public to always remember the contact with the OJK complaint, namely at number 157 or WhatsApp [phone].

"In that way, people will get answers about whether the application is legal or not," he said.

Doni explained that one of the characteristics of a financial investment is legal and logical.

"Legal means that institutions that carry out investment activities or collect public funds must have permission from the OJK," he said.

Meanwhile, he continued, logically meaning that what is offered by investment institutions or companies must make sense and not make up or promise something excessive.

"For example, big interest offers or investment offers without risk," he said.

Meanwhile, a member of Commission XI of the House of Representatives, Indah Kurnia, explained that the public must be wise in managing their finances, namely using money based on their needs.

"We must manage finances wisely, avoid buying consumptive goods," he said.

According to him, recently there has been a lot of unhealthy information circulating through social media, regarding fraudulent investments and illegal online loans.

Therefore, he appealed to the people of Surabaya not to be persuaded by the lure of something irrational by anyone.

"One of the efforts to be able to maintain the financial condition of the family is to do productive work such as business and other options that are more challenging and promise profits such as investment with the aim that money does not stop being saved," he said.

Therefore, Indah Kurnia appreciates the education and socialization carried out by OJK on the community regularly, periodically, and consistently.
