Kadin The Value Of Domestic Industry Readiness Has Not Been Maximumly Absorbed By Nickel Products

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) Arya Rizqi Darsono assessed that the readiness of the domestic industry has not been qualified in absorbing nickel processed reservoirs produced by downstream.

According to him, Indonesia has only succeeded in creating semi-finished products and still has to be exported abroad and re-importing finished goods.

"Talking about downstreaming certainly needs a market to absorb. For nickel, ferronickel, nickel matate is still half finished for the product," Rizqi said in the Mining Zone quoted on Tuesday, September 19.

For this reason, he hopes, Indonesia has many smelters with hydromethalurgy technology that not only produces cathodes as battery mangroves, but can produce finished goods.

After producing its own battery, he said, Indonesia has a market that can absorb products that have been produced by the battery industry.

"Of course, you have to make policy formulations related to electric cars, for example, given tax facilities or other fiscal incentives so that more and more can be absorbed so that more people can be absorbed," Rizqi continued.

He gave an example, the bauxite industry, which has only been successful in processing bauxite ore into alumina and aluminum,

"Meanwhile, alumina alone produces 14 million tons and Inalum can absorb approximately 500 to 750,000 tons. In the end, exports are also available," he added.

For this reason, he hopes that Indonesia will have a market that can buy semi-finished products and produce products that can be directly used in the country.

In addition to nickel and bauxite, Rizqi again imitated silica sand which was previously going to be subject to a ban on exports by the government.

He said, the Government needs to prepare markets such as processing solar panels and glass that can really utilize silica sand optimally.

"Don't let business actors be ready downstream, the products are not absorbed. I think in the future we can sit together on how to formulate a policy formulation that can be applied by usaha actors," concluded Rizqi.
