JAKARTA - In the midst of economic uncertainty and disruption in various fields of life, people's lifestyle has changed, including in terms of investing. According to Professor of Management at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia, Rhenald Kasali, the uncertainty and risk in investing will always exist, but people can choose to be wiser in building their investment portfolio.

Rhenald, who is also known as a business practitioner and author of best-seller books, said that there are at least three things that need to be considered in investing in the digital era as it is today. First, product and risk aspects.

"First of all, I want to appreciate Bibit, an investment application that has been used by more than five million investors in Indonesia, because it has succeeded in making investment more inclusive. Now everyone can invest in the Fixed Rate Bond product in Bibit starting at IDR 1 million," said Prof. Rhenald, in his statement, Monday, September 18.

Through its innovation, the Bibit application allows more people to be able to buy Fixed Rate (FR) State Bonds which are 100 percent guaranteed by the Indonesian government. For information, currently the average FR bond yield is around 5-7 percent per year, larger than deposit interest rates. The tax imposed on FR bonds is also only 10 percent, different from deposits at 20 percent.

Second, the security and clarity aspect. FR bonds are very safe investment instruments because the Indonesian government guarantees 100 percent of the principal payments and coupons. Different from deposits guaranteed by the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) and has a maximum limit of IDR 2 billion per bank per customer, the amount of FR Bond investment is still guaranteed by the state without a maximum limit.

Historically, the state has never failed to pay state bonds. Investors can also sell their investment at any time without having to wait for maturity.

In addition, all products invested through Bibit, ranging from mutual funds, shares, and FR bonds, are recorded in the Central Securities of Indonesia (KSEI) Depository so that all these investments are recorded on behalf of the user/investor as the owner of the asset.

"This makes investment very clear and transparent. When I checked, Bibit has also been licensed and supervised by the Financial Services Authority. This is important," added Prof. Rhenald.

Third, the aspect of convenience. Bibit users can use Customer Fund Accounts (RDN) as payment methods. In this case, Bibit collaborates with BCA and Bank Jago to open RDN.

Purchase of FR Bonds in Bibit can also be done every 24 hours online, in contrast to banks that can only be done during exchange hours and may have to go through a relationship manager (RM). The convenience that Bibit offers can be enjoyed without being charged an additional fee or hidden fee.
