Bulog's SPHP Rice Increases To IDR 54,500 Per 5 Kg

JAKARTA - Rice Stabilization of Food Supply and Prices (SPHP) distributed by Perum Bulog has increased.

With this increase, Bulog rice which was originally sold for Rp. 47,000 per kilogram (kg) to Rp. 54,500 per kg.

The increase in SPHP rice distributed by state-owned enterprises (BUMN) for food is valid from September 1, 2023.

Head of the National Food Agency Arief Prasetyo Adi said the increase in the price of SPHP rice occurred because the price of Bulog rice had been increased per kilogram (kg) to Rp10,900 from the initial Highest Retail Price (HET) of Rp9,450 per kg.

"This price does have an adjustment of 1 kg, a maximum of Rp. 10,900 per kg, an adjustment price. This is very good," he said at Lotte Mart, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, Friday, September 8.

Arief explained that this rice price adjustment occurred due to various factors. One of them is because the price of unhulled rice has increased from the initial Rp5,000 to Rp7,300 per kg.

"The price adjustment, we have calculated from the end of last year the production costs start from the lease of land, seeds, fertilizer prices and the increase in fuel in September-October last year. So that the government at the direction of the President increases rice prices by approximately 20 percent," he said.

"By increasing the price of rice by 20 percent, the President hopes that farmers will be able to feel the passion to plant rice," he continued.

Meanwhile, Bulog President Director Budi Waseso emphasized that Bulog's current stock of Government Rice Reserves (CBP) has flooded markets in all regions. In fact, it is also available in modern retailers.

Buwas, Budi Waseso's nickname, said that the government's rice stock in Bulog's warehouse is currently 1.6 million tons. However, this stock continues to decrease.

Bulog already has 1.6 million tons, but now it's starting to decrease. Because for this to be distributed continuously, but God willing, we will massively how to keep the stock condition stable, the most important thing is," he said.
