Pertamina Urges Residents Not To Build Buildings To Match Plants In Oil Pipelines

PT Pertamina (Persero) urges the public not to build buildings or even carry out suitable planting activities around the right of way (ROW) or oil pipelines.

ROWS, especially those just above the pipe, are buffer zones or buffer zones to anticipate risks that may arise.

"Although we continue to patrol, we really hope for public awareness not to build on pipes and we hope for the RoW," said Public Relations of PT Pertamina International Refinery Balikpapan Ely Chandra Warinangin quoting Antara.

Therefore, Pertamina through PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) Balikpapan Unit collaborated with the Penajam Paser Utara District Attorney (Kejari PPU) to maintain the Tanjung Jumlai-Terminal Lawe-Lawe pipeline ROW assets located in Penajam District, PPU Regency.

"Pertamina must start from the inventory and identification of potentials for managed assets," said PPU District Attorney Agus Chandra.

If it has been inventoried and identified, then Pertamina will be ready to face modus operandi in case of asset claims, namely document falsification, including false information in authentic deed, illegal occupation or without rights (wild occupancy), embezzlement and fraud, falsification of land rights management power, eliminating land certificates, and issuing illegal Land Certificates (SKT).

On the other hand, Pertamina's meeting with the PPU Kejari was also related to legal remedies by PT KPI Balikpapan Unit for the issuance of 55 certificates on land which is the Tanjung Jumlai-Terminal Lawe-Lawe Pipe ROWS. The legal action carried out by PT KPI Balikpapan Unit paid off with the cancellation of the certificate issued on the land ROW.

"We are in this legal action, asking the PPU Prosecutor's Office for assistance as State Attorneys, to maintain state assets," said General Manager of PT KPI Balikpapan Unit Arafat Bayu Nugroho.

The Tanjung Jumlai-Terminal Lawe-Lawe pipeline is a crude oil pipeline from the single buyer mooring in Tanjung Jumlai, Makassar Strait where the tanker pumps oil, then flows to the Lawe-lawe crude oil terminal, and then pumped into the Balikpapan Refinery. All pipes cover a distance of approximately 40 km, including 7 km on the seabed of Balikpapan Bay.

Public Relations of PT KPI Balikpapan Unit Ely Chandra Warinangin said that the management of pipelines and the ROWS of Pertamina Group in PPU Regency requires support from all parties.

"Support from stakeholders, basically not only to keep the oil and gas distribution process running safely, but in a wider environment it is also to protect all parties, including the community from potential hazards that may occur," said Chandra.
