JAKARTA - The Capital Archipelago Authority (OIKN) and a global technology company engaged in security and digital identity solutions, Thales, have signed a strategic cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation between the two parties in the development of the concept of a smart city in the archipelago, which includes digital identity, unmanned aircraft system traffic management, and cybersecurity including digital security and data centers.

Head of the IKN Authority, Bambang Susantono, said that this collaboration reflects the commitment of OIKN and Thales in supporting the development of a green economy and the development of a smart city.

"We believe that this collaboration will bring great benefits to the development of smart cities in the archipelago and improve the quality of life of the Indonesian people," said Bambang in his official statement, Wednesday, July 26.

Later, the concept of a smart city offered in this MOU will provide innovative and sustainable solutions to overcome the challenges of a future city. One of the collaborations that will be carried out is the development of a secure and reliable digital identity.

In addition, the MoU focuses on developing an unmanned aircraft traffic management system. This technology is expected to optimize the use of air space, improve flight safety, and support the development of an increasingly important unmanned aviation sector in the modern era.

This collaboration will also strengthen the cybersecurity sector in the archipelago. OIKN and Thales collaborate to improve digital defense, protect important infrastructure, and deal with and prevent increasingly complex cyber threats.

On the same occasion, Deputy for Green Transformation and Digital Authority of IKN Mohammed Ali Berawi said cooperation with various world companies would further enhance partnerships in the field of technology.

This collaboration will improve the implementation of smart and inclusive cities through the exchange of ideas, resources, and strategies from Thales and OIKN.

"Cooperation with Thales will help build a smart city system through decision making based on data to realize the vision of the archipelago as a world city for all," he said.

Meanwhile, Senior Vice President of Thales Group for Asia, Eurasia, and Latin America Region Guy Bonassi welcomed this collaboration with enthusiasm.

"We are committed to contributing to the development of smart cities in Indonesia through various reliable smart system solutions and innovations. This collaboration will enable the exchange of ideas, experiences, and implementation of technology to bring positive benefits to development in the archipelago," he said.
