The Directorate General of Agro Industry, Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is organizing industrial assistance activities 4.0 to further boost the performance of the national food and beverage industry (mamin) today.

Based on the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap, the food and beverage industry is one of the sectors that has priority development in implementing digital transformation.

This strategic step is believed to make the national food industry globally competitive, because it reduces dependence on imported raw materials and is encouraged to increase exports.

"The Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap is not only focused on technology applications, but also oriented towards developing human resources (HR) and R&D in the industrial sector," said Director General of Agro Industry of the Ministry of Industry Putu Juli Ardika at the Kick Off for Industrial Assistance 4.0 for the Food and Beverage Industry Sector in Jakarta, Tuesday, July 18.

Director General Putu said digitalization had a positive effect on the industrial sector in an effort to increase the value of its exports.

For example, currently there is the implementation of EU Regulation on Deforestation regulations in the European Union region which requires industry players in Indonesia, such as the food and beverage sector, to show proof of certification and verification that their products have no impact on deforestation.

"Through digitalization, we can traceability of our products to be able to penetrate the export market. We believe that the food and beverage industry can do well," he said.

This digitization effort has been carried out by domestic dairy processing industry players, ranging from livestock, milk collection sites, to processing processes.

Furthermore, said Putu, there were two sessions in the mentoring activity, namely a session containing the delivery of knowledge about industry 4.0 and learning about the manufacture of pilot projects through competency-based training (PBK).

The second is an in-depth study session accompanied by experts and instructors about knowledge and extracting ideas for the implementation of industry 4.0 in the company, as well as the process of internalizing and presenting pilot projects in front of the Board of Directors (BOD) accompanied by experts and assessors.

"If this pilot project can be implemented, the human resources will be provided with competency certification facilities which are expected to be able to become an agent of change in the industrial transformation sector 4.0 in the food and beverage industry sector," he said.

Putu is optimistic that this mentoring activity will be able to accelerate the mamin industry in implementing digital transformation 4.0 appropriately, accurately, safely and measurably. "We appreciate the participation of ministries/agencies, experts, and companies in supporting this 4.0 industrial mentoring activity," he said.

On the same occasion, Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Food and Beverage Entrepreneurs (GAPMMI) Adhi S. Lukman said this 4.0 industrial assistance activity shows seriousness in efforts to support increased competitiveness, especially the food and beverage sector.

"We appreciate this activity is not just ceremonial, this is our seriousness because there are many challenges in the future that need the application of digital technology," he explained.

According to Adhi, this assistance is the basis for developing competent human resources to be able to implement industry 4.0. "Hopefully the implementation of digitalization will increase the benefits of more companies, including the small and medium industry sector," he added.
