Export Weakening Trend Continues, June 2023 Down 5 Percent

JAKARTA The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia's exports in June 2023 amounted to 20.6 billion dollars.

BPS Main Secretary Atqo Mardiyanto said that the export decreased by 5.0 percent on a monthly basis (month to month/mtm) when compared to May 2023 which amounted to USD 21.7 billion.

"The trend of weakening exports continues," he said during a press conference on Monday, July 17.

According to Atqo, deeper contractions occur in export figures if viewed on an annual basis (year on year / yoy). It was recorded that exports in June 2022 posted a value of 26.1 billion US dollars.

"The export value has decreased quite deeply by 21.1 percent on an annual basis," he said.

Atqo explained that the decline in exports occurred in oil and gas (oil and gas) commodities and non-oil and gas commodities.

"The pressure looks both monthly and annually in line with the decline in Indonesia's leading commodity prices, such as coal and palm oil," he said.

In detail, oil and gas exports in June 2023 amounted to 1.2 billion US dollars. Then for non-oil and gas exports it is known to be worth 19.3 billion US dollars.
