Bakauheni-Berbangi Besar Toll Road And Medan Binjai Officially Taken By INA, Acquisition Value Of IDR 20.5 Trillion

JAKARTA - The Indonesia Investment Authority or INA officially took over two toll roads belonging to PT Hutama Karya (Persero), namely the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar Toll Road and the Medan-Binjai Toll Road. The transaction value for the acquisition of BUMN Karya assets reached Rp20.5 trillion.

The sale is the transfer of old assets, to build new assets (asset recycling).

This acquisition was marked by the signing of the Settlement of Investment Transactions between Hutama Karya and INA at the Danareksa Building, Jakarta, Thursday, July 13.

Deputy Minister of SOEs II, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said that the total toll roads belonging to Hutama Karya that were acquired by INA reached three segments. One other segment that is still being processed is the Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung Toll Road.

"We are releasing to INA to become a catalyst for investment in Indonesia, of course with a good commercial aspect," he said during the signing of the Settlement of Investment Transactions, Jakarta, Thursday, July 13.

The man who is familiarly called Tiko ensures that the budget obtained from the sale of the toll road is intended for the construction of the new Hutama Karya assets.

"Yes (acquisition) this is actually our strategy on asset recycling toll roads. So it is indeed seen from the risk of this toll road, the biggest risk is the development process," he explained.

Tiko hopes that the takeover of the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar and Medan-Binjai toll roads is expected to make Hutama Karya's finances healthier.

"It is hoped that with this transaction, Hutama Karya will be healthier and stronger," he said.

Meanwhile, the President Director of Hutama Karya, Budi Harto, said that the two entities had completed cooperation in the context of the two toll road asset in Trans Sumatra on June 27, 2023.

Budi said the use of assets from INA worth IDR 20.5 trillion would be used by Hutama Karya to pay the company's debt.

"We will use the use of assets from INA to reduce the ponjaman, thus increasing the company's leverage and probability," he said.
