SKK Migas Boss Says ENI Will Replace Chevron Working On IDD Project

JAKARTA - The oil and gas giant company from Italy, ENI SP.A, is certain to enter and manage the Indonesia Deepwater Development (IDD) project to replace PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI).

Head of SKK Migas, Dwi Soetjipto revealed that ENI had entered the finalization stage of the agreement to work on the project located in Kutai Basin, East Kalimantan

"IDD sudah firm, Chevron diganti ENI," ujar Dwi kepada media, Rabu 5 Juli

With the entry of ENI, Dwi hopes that this signing will be carried out in mid-July 2023. "We hope that June can be completed for IDD too. We will give it in July," added Dwi.

Previously, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif urged PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI) to immediately provide a pass related to the transfer of management of the Indonesia Deepwater Development (IDD) block in July.

"We hope that IDD must have certainty this June," Arifin told the media quoted on Saturday, June 24.

Arifin emphasized that if Chevron has not provided certainty until next July, his party will take firm steps, one of which is by termination of the contract.

"(The contract termination) That is one of our targets this July so that there is certainty," said Arifin.

Previously, it was reported that the US oil and gas company Chevron chose to leave the IDD project, which is a National Strategic Project (PSN).

Just so you know, the IDD project is one of four national strategic projects with a potential production of 844 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) for natural gas and 27,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd).
