Support Sport Tourism In NTB, Angkasa Pura I Optimizing Land

PT Angkasa Pura I Lombok International Airport supports sport tourism at the former Selaparang Airport, Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) as the location for the 2023 Lombok MXGP Circuit.

General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Lombok Airport Rahmat Adil Indrawan said the land of the former Selaparang Airport is one of the assets of Angkasa Pura I which has strategic value.

"In addition to being an implementation of one of the business transformation programs, this land optimization cooperation is a manifestation of one of the functions of the company as an agent of development, namely supporting government programs in contributing to tourism and economic growth through asset optimization," he also said.

He said that the optimization of the land of the former Selaparang Airport as the MXGP Circuit is expected to be an entry point for various other activities in the future.

"So that in the future it is hoped that the existence of the former Selaparang Airport in the center of Mataram City will be able to have a wider positive impact on the people of Mataram City and NTB Province and have a national multiplier effect," he said again.

NTB Governor Dr Zulkieflimansyah said the cooperation between the NTB Provincial Government and Angkasa Pura I in utilizing the land of the former Selaparang Airport as the location of the MXGP Circuit is expected to encourage tourism and economic activities in Lombok.

"At the same time, it is the first step to make this place the center of MICE and sport tourism in NTB," he said.

The cooperation between the two parties is carried out as a collaborative and synergistic effort to maximize the existence of the land of the former Selaparang Airport in contributing to the economic growth of the people of NTB.

"This is also to support the development of NTB Province as a world-class sport tourism destination, especially sports motorbikes," he also said.

Indonesia is again the host of the world's prestigious Motocros racing event, the FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP). In 2023, Indonesia will receive two series, both of which will be held in NTB Province, namely the 10th series in Sumbawa which has been successfully held from June 24-25 and the 11th series in Lombok which will be held on July 1-2, 2023.

The Selaparang MXGP Circuit is 1,600 meters long and is designed with 12 obstacles, 16 corners, and several jumping areas. This circuit lay on the runway of the former Selaparang Airport with a view of Mount Rinjani.

With beautiful circuit views and locations that are easily accessible because they are in the middle of Mataram City, the committee targets as many as 100 thousand spectators to witness the Lombok MXGP event live.
