Chicken Prices Rise To IDR 50,000 Per Tail, Jokowi Will Check <> The Problem

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo found that the price of chickens reached Rp50,000 per head at the Palmerah market, Jakarta. This increase will be a concern of the number 1 person in Indonesia.

Jokowi said that the increase in the price of chicken meat in the market was too high and suspected that there was a problem in supply.

"What goes up a bit high is chicken meat. Usually at a price of Rp. 30,000, Rp. 32,000, this has reached Rp. 50,000. I will check, maybe there is a problem in the supply, the supply," said President Jokowi quoting Antara, Monday, June 26.

President Jokowi suspects that the price increase is due to the period leading up to Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijri. "Yes, maybe also (because of Eid al-Adha), but the increase is too high from Rp. 30,000 - Rp. 32,000 to Rp. 50,000, usually the price is if the eggs usually go up and down again, I will check in the field later," said the President.

Previously, the Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan said the price of chicken and eggs had begun to fall, especially on the island of Java.

He said the price of chicken eggs on the island of Java fell from Rp. 32,000 to Rp. 30,000 (per kilogram), while the price of chicken meat per chicken, which had been Rp. 46,000, is now around Rp. 40,000.

According to Zulkifli, the price of chicken meat should range from Rp. 37,000 to Rp. 38,000.

The same thing also happens to egg commodities, which during Eid should be at IDR 27,000-IDR 29,000 per kg, but instead only IDR 25,000 per kilogram, so that egg entrepreneurs lose money.

The Trade Minister admitted that it did take time to recover the price of chicken and eggs, because even though it is currently falling below prices last week, the price is still relatively high.

He hopes that within the next month the prices of these two basic commodities will be stable as determined by the government.
