JAKARTA - Minister of National Development Planning or Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa said the construction of the capital city of Nusantara or IKN in Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan, has reached around 29 percent to date.

"The progress of IKN development is now approximately 26-29 percent," he told reporters after being met at the Focus Group Discussion event "Indonesia Maju, Prosperous Society" in Jakarta, Monday, June 5.

With the progress of ongoing development, Suharso is optimistic that the commemoration of the Independence Day of Indonesia (Indonesia's Independence Day) in 2024 can be celebrated at IKN. "The important thing is that we have optimism on August 17, 2024, we will have a ceremony there," he said.

Regarding the investment achievements that have been submitted to IKN to date, the Minister of Bappenas is reluctant to comment further. Because, this is not his full authority and can further ask the IKN Authority.

So, he only sees what master plans have been implemented. "If we look at the calculations like that, hopefully we can achieve it," he said.

Previously, the Ministry of PUPR said that the progress of infrastructure for the development of the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) had reached more than 20 percent, to date.

"Now, the progress of all infrastructure on aggregate is 22 percent," said PUPR Ministry Spokesperson Endra S Atmawidjaja to reporters in Jakarta, Friday, May 26.

Endra said, there were around Rp32 trillion packages that had been contracted in the infrastructure development.

"This means that from all infrastructure on an aggregate basis, right, it will continue to grow, yes, packages that are contracted," he said.
