Opportunities For Limited Indonesian Migrant Workers 3 Countries, BP2MI Reveals The Reason

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) said that Indonesia only has three destination countries as candidates for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI).

In fact, the number of PMI candidates who registered has reached more than 250,000 people.

"Currently, those who registered with us totaled 270,000 people for all schemes, while currently we only have three G to G (government to government) schemes, namely Germany, South Korea and Japan," said BP2MI President Secretary Rinardi to reporters at the BP2MI Building. Jakarta, Monday, June 5th.

Rinardi said that his party had made efforts to open up opportunities for cooperation with other countries, but the final decision was made by the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker).

"Currently, 80 countries have opened up, imagine only three countries, very small. We want to open more, we are ready to visit many countries to cooperate with the G to G program, but we can only provide recommendations, the final decision is at the Ministry of Manpower," he said.

Because, said Rinardi, the Ministry of Manpower has a stake in signing cooperation with these countries.

"Because they will later make an MoU with these countries," he said.

So, Rinardi said, a number of state recommendations that have been made by BP2MI at this time, are just waiting for approval from the Ministry of Manpower.

"So, our recommendations already exist, which country, whether the potential work there, any sector, and this can absorb workers from Indonesia, and finally we are still waiting from the Ministry of Manpower," he said.
