JAKARTA - In commemoration of National Elderly Day which falls on May 29, 2023, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) handed over documents for the Assets of the Sasana Sasana Tresna Werdha RIA Pembangunan Flat to the Bhakti RIA Karya Foundation on Jalan Karya Bhakti, Cibubur, East Jakarta, on Tuesday, May 30.

The ceremonial handover procession was carried out directly by the Head of BP2P Java I Firsta Ismet and the Head of Sub-Directorate Region II of the Directorate of Flats Noviza Temenggung to the Chairman of the Karya Bhakti RIA Foundation, Sri Kusumo Amdani Development in front of the elderly residents of the Flats.

The Director General of Housing at the PUPR Ministry, Iwan Suprijanto, said that with the flats for the elderly, the PUPR Ministry hopes that they can still enjoy their old age by living in decent and comfortable residences with various supporting facilities.

"Rusun Lansia Sasana Tresna Werdha Karya Bhakti merupakan Rusun yang dituunkan bagi para lansia. Rusun yang dibangun pada 2015 ini adalah Rusun khusus Lansia pertama yang dibangun oleh Kementerian PUPR," ujar Iwan dalam siaran persnya, Rabu, 31 Mei.

"This flat has a tower measuring 86.75 x 20.7 meters long with a precast concrete construction system consisting of three floors with a total of 90 units of type 24. This flat is expected to serve as a pilot for the construction of the next Elderly Flat which will be built by the Ministry of PUPR in the regions," he said.

On the same occasion, one of the retired high school teachers in Madiun named Indira Larasati (82 years) said that the construction of this elderly Flat is very beneficial for the elderly. "I feel at home living in this flat, because the facilities are complete and the officers on duty are also very friendly and kind. In every room there are also beds along with mattresses and pillows, wardrobes, tables and dining chairs, as well as a clean bathroom in the residential unit," he added.
