Medco Gets IDR 15 Billion Grant To Develop Bayu Power Plant

PT Medco Power Indonesia (Medco) received IDR 15 billion as a grant from the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) for a feasibility study for the development of a bayu power plant (PLTB). The PLTB with a capacity of 111 Megawatts (MW) is located in West Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia.

Quoted from his written statement, the Rp15 billion fund is intended to support Indonesia's clean energy transition, under the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) partnership led by Indonesia.

President Director of PT Medco Power Indonesia, Eka Satria said, this feasibility study will provide detailed analysis of wind resources, geotechnical initial analysis, electricity generation design and interconnection systems, network integration studies, initial environmental and social impact assessments, risk assessments, cost and economic analysis as well as implementation plans.

"The resulting bayu-powered electricity will supply clean energy to regional networks in Indonesia to support the clean energy transition process in Indonesia," he said, quoted on Tuesday, May 30.

Meanwhile, the Director of USTDA, Enoh T. Ebong, said that USTDA is committed to supporting potential projects that can close the infrastructure gap and support the clean energy transition in Indonesia.
