SAMARINDA - The trade sector, including wholesale, retail, repair and maintenance of cars and motorcycles in East Kalimantan Province (Kaltim) absorbed the most workers, up to 20.33 percent, based on data from BPS Kaltim in February 2023.

"In February 2023, business fields in this sector made the highest contribution to employment in East Kalimantan, namely 367,785 people or 20.33 percent," said Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) for East Kalimantan, Yusniar Juliana, quoted from Antara, Thursday, May 18.

He said the level of education could indicate the quality and productivity of the workforce, which can be seen in the February 2023 data, with the working population being dominated by those with high school education, namely 27.55 percent.

"This figure exceeds the percentage of working population with elementary school education level and below which still dominates in February 2021 and February 2022, while the workforce with higher education, namely diplomas and universities is 14.99 percent," said Yusniar.
