JAKARTA - Director General of Oil and Gas (Dirjen Migas), Tutuka Ariadji estimates that the consumption of subsidized fuel for the Eid Al-Fitr (RAFI) period in 2023 will increase.

"For RAFI, the total is greater than last year, according to our estimates," said Tutuka, quoted on Tuesday, April 11.

According to Tutuka, currently what needs to be understood together is that this year's fuel consumption pattern with the previous year will be different because the holiday time this year is longer so it is estimated that the peak of the long holiday will not drop downward but about two weeks will be at the peak.

"The pattern is different from the previous year where the holiday time was short, so it takes a long time to supply the amount of supply at the peak," said Tutuka.

For this reason, he estimates that the consumption of general types of fuel such as Solar and Pertalite will certainly increase compared to 2022.

"Tap if the subsidy was probably bigger than before. Over the past year, it will be bigger than the previous year," added Tutuka.

According to Tutuka, this increase in consumption was also driven by community activities that returned to normal after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Not only for diesel and Pertalite, Tutuka said, this surge in fuel consumption also applies to LPG.

"Because it has returned to normal, we predict that more than before, including Elpiji, Solar and Pertalite, it is bigger than before," concluded Tutuka.

Meanwhile, Pertamina Patra Niaga estimates that there will be an increase in daily fuel demand during Eid Al-Fitr in 2023, namely Gasoline increased by 10.3 percent, Avtur increased by 7.3 percent while Kerrosene was expected to fall by 1.4 percent and Gasoil fell by 8.7 percent.
