Minister Of Energy And Mineral Resources Ensures Electricity Tariffs In The Second Quarter Don't Increase

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif ensured that electricity rates in the second quarter of 2023 would not increase.

"(The electricity tariff) is the same," said Arifin briefly when he was visited at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Friday, March 24.

Previously, last week Arifin revealed that electricity rates for April to June were being discussed but there had been no decision regarding electricity rates.

"It has been discussed, it remains only to be appointed again for decision," said Arifin on Friday, March 17.

Previously on December 30, 2022, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources also decided not to increase the tariff for non-subsidized electricity on the grounds of maintaining people's purchasing power.

Just so you know, electricity rates can change up or down to see the progress of the exchange rate, ICP, inflation, and HPB and the current condition of the community. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources also encourages PT PLN (Persero) to continue to take operational efficiency steps that can reduce the cost of providing electricity and electricity tariffs.

"The increase in the amount of electricity tariffs certainly provides certainty to various community groups and maintains people's purchasing power and supports national economic stability and recovery," he concluded.
