Regarding Pertamina's Buffer Zone Depot In Plumpang, Commission VII: Ideally 500 Meters

PT Pertamina (Persero) will build a buffer zone or a safe area 50 meters from the fence in the Oil Fuel Terminal (TBBM) or Pertamina Plumpang Depot area, this step is in accordance with instructions from the Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir.

Responding to this, Chairman of Commission VII DPR RI Sugeng Suparwoto said that the buffer zone should ideally be 500 meters from residential areas so as not to cause big losses to the community and Pertamina in the future.

In addition to buffer zones, national vital objects should also be surrounded by large benchmarks as much as additional security.

"Bufferzone before the wall there should be a large ditch and then there will be a buffer zone. 50 meters is too close, ideally 500 meters if you want to keep it for a while," said Sugeng in a Hearing Meeting with the President Director of Pertamina, Thursday, March 16.

He reasoned that on March 3, Pertamina was still'saved' by the gusts leading to residential areas so as not to cause additional explosions in 23 other fuel tanks in Plumpang Depo.

"Imagine if the wind goes to the tengki, it explodes one tengki, another 23 can catch fire. Allah still loves so that a dramatic disaster does not occur and can cause a state of emergency, the election could be delayed and so on," added Sugeng. Sugeng also asked for a top audit of all assets and Indonesian oil and gas facilities because of several facilities built in the 1970s.

"The establishment of these facilities is much different from now on. Tingkan humiditi, climate change and so on so that security standards must be considered. Moreover, this was built in 1974 with the qualifications of metallurgical materials in contrast to the challenges of today's environment and nature, so it requires a total audit," explained Sugeng.

Another consideration is the threat of terrorism that could cause other disasters. The reason is that Plumpang Depot is also close to the toll road so that a total audit and additional buffer zones are needed.

"Another threat to Plumpang is also a danger, namely the threat of terrorism, that's just a cross-toll, just a gun arrives. Roughly speaking, how dangerous it is from the strategic and security aspects of the nation's capital," concluded Sugeng.
