JAKARTA - The Earth of the Ranca Upas camp in Bandung Regency, West Java, was badly damaged by a trail motorcycle event held some time ago.

The land that was previously green grass turned into a mud puddle, even the rare plant of edelweiss swampy lunglais was removed from its roots.

Responding to this, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno said the holding of the event had no impact on damaging the environment.

"We deeply regret the destructive trail motorcycle event at Ranca Upas and this is the organization of irresponsible events that damage the environment, and harm not only the surrounding community, but the entire tourism ecosystem of ours," Sandiaga said at The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno. monitored online, Monday, March 13.

Sandiaga said, the digitization of event licensing is very necessary. This is because the system allows the implementation of each activity to be measured as a risk and competence for organizing events.

"So, we make sure that we will zonate the digitization of this event and we will start it, and make sure the preparation of digitization of this licensing side is tested on time," he said.

In the future, Sandiaga said, each event will be assessed at the level of risk. Because even events that are considered less risky, may be at high risk.

"Therefore, we will provide a classification of competency risks for organizing events, risk mitigation, risk management plans, waste management plans, and so on," he said.

According to him, it is necessary to take firm action to provide a deterrent effect in organizing these activities. This means that if there is an organizing that makes a mistake intentionally, it will be blacklisted by the system.

The digitalization system, continued Sandiaga, is currently still in the process of intensive preparation across ministries/agencies. "We will involve industry associations that organize events and will be tested in May and June," he said.
