Perhutani-United Tractors Build Rehabilitation And Forest Utilization Cooperation

Perum Perhutani together with PT United Tractors tbk (UT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or a memorandum of understanding in an effort to rehabilitate and utilize forests.

The activity was held as a form of commitment in efforts to improve forest conservation areas, as well as encourage forest rehabilitation and utilization activities in the location of the Perhutani forest area. Endung's Director of Planning and Development Trihartaka said that in managing the forest, Perhutani refers to three main aspects, namely the environment, social and economic.

Furthermore, Endung said that the forest and community development revegement program carried out by UT is a good example in the social and environmental responsibility of a company for the state and society. "I hope that Perhutani's cooperation with UT can continue to increase and expand so that more areas of the forest can be repaired. Later this activity can certainly provide benefits for the wider environment and society," said Endung as quoted on Sunday, March 5. Meanwhile, President Director of PT United Tractors Tbk Edhie Sarwono explained that the revegement efforts carried out by UT are the company's sustainability initiative in the environmental sector through the UTREES (United Tractors for Nature and Environment Sustainability) program, which is a real commitment of UT in providing a good impact on the environment according to sustainability business aspects and ESG (Environmental, Social, & Governance) principles.

UT really understands the importance of forest role as an effort to mitigate the impact of a bigger natural disaster. For example, the revegement that UT has done in the slopes of Mount Arjuno is an effort to prevent flash floods and landslides, as happened in Batu City, Malang in 2021," said Edhie Sarwono., KPH Sukabumi and KPH Bogor. Through this collaboration, it is also hoped that it can improve and restore vegetation by planting and maintaining forest areas as a form of environmental and social responsibility to the environment by calculating the amount of carbon absorption that will be generated through planting carried out in the Perhutani area.
