US Provides Additional Weapons To Ukraine Worth IDR 6 Trillion

JAKARTA - The United States (US) has stated that it will provide the latest military security assistance packages for Ukraine. The amount is 400 million US dollars or approximately IDR 6 trillion.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said the latest aid package was funded by the Presidential Drawdown Authority, which allows the delivery of goods and services from the US Department of Defense to be delivered without Congressional approval in response to emergency situations.

The military aid package includes more ammunition for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) and howitzer, Blinken said in a written statement on the US State Department website monitored by ANTARA on Saturday.

In addition, in the US defense aid package for Ukraine, there is also ammunition for the Bradley Infantry Combat Vehicle, a armored vehicle launch bridge, equipment and destruction equipment, and training.

"Russia can end its war today. Until Russia does, we will unite with Ukraine and strengthen its military on the battlefield as long as necessary so that Ukraine will be in the strongest position on the negotiating table," Blinken said.

Blinken added that the US continues to garner world support for Ukraine and he praised the support of more than 50 countries united in solidarity with Ukraine to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the US has delivered military equipment aid worth more than 30 billion US dollars (approximately IDR 458 trillion) to Ukraine, according to the Pentagon.

This is the 33rd time that the administration of US President Joe Biden has authorized aid for Ukraine by using the authority of the Presidential Drawdown Authority.
