JAKARTA - Special Staff to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) for the Acceleration of Mineral and Coal Governance, Irwandy Arif, opened his voice regarding the 22-hour congestion that occurred on the Tembesi national road, Batanghari, Jambi.

It is known that the traffic jam was caused by a coal-carrying truck passing on a national road.

Irwandy explained, based on applicable agreements and regulations, coal transport trucks have a permit to cross national roads at the set time from 18.00 to 06.00 am.

"The rules are that they start operating from 6 pm to 6 am. But because there have been too many crowds. It's not a violation. As long as they have permission through national roads, it's okay," said Irwandy when met at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Friday, March 3.

Irwandy continued, related to this, his party has also held a meeting with the Governor and coal companies regarding the construction of special roads for mining trucks.

"It has been held at a meeting here. There are plans that they will make their own way later," continued Irwandy.

He continued, currently the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has also worked with related parties to carry out routine checks on permits to cross national roads by coal-fighting trucks.

"There, checking which companies have permits, whether they have permission or not. Those who comply only operate from 6 pm to 6 am," he added.

He added that the progress of road construction had been carried out by several mining-owning companies.

"If I'm not mistaken, it's already started. I just don't know the details," concluded Irwandy.
