Empowering Footwear IKM, Ministry Of Industry Collaborates With Existing Local Names At Jakarta Sneaker Day 2023

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) through the Indonesian Footwear Industry Development Center (BPIPI) cooperates with local brands to appear in the Jakarta Sneaker Day Solration 2023.

Through this event, BPIPI invited several local names of footwear to appear on the Sneaker Show agenda in the Jakarta Sneaker Day Solration 2023 series, which is also a collaboration between the Jakarta Sneaker Day (JSD) community and ESMOD.

"This activity is one of the programs of the #IndonesiaMelangkah campaign which aims to invite footwear industry players in Indonesia to jointly support and collaborate," said Head of BPIPI Kemenperin Syukur Idayati in his official statement, quoted Tuesday, February 28.

This effort is based on the desire to bring the footwear industry to be more competitive. "As one of the industrial sub-sectors that plays a role in the economy, the footwear industry increasingly has a place in the hearts of the people and has a great opportunity to fill the domestic market," he said.

Idayati said that her party had been actively synergizing with Jakarta Sneaker Day since 2018 by continuing to present local brands, including Artemis Ethereal, Bitka, Burundi, Footwear Emba, Kanky, Ortuseight, Pijak Bumi, and Prabu Indonesia.

"The domestic market is extraordinary, but once the local brand is still overwhelmed to fill this market. For example, there are some who do not have their own workshop, so collaboration between the footwear industry players is needed," he added.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency in the fourth quarter of 2022, the growth of the footwear industry reached IDR 30.8 trillion with an export value of 7.7 billion US dollars.

For your information, BPPI is a work unit under the Ministry of Industry that focuses on developing small and medium-sized industries (IKM) on foot.
