Indonesian Citizens Become More Tax Compliant, SPT Reports Grow Significantly

JAKARTA – The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) of the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) reported that the number of Annual Tax Returns (SPT) for business entities has been collected as many as 137.866 SPTs.

Director General of Taxes of the Ministry of Finance Suryo Utomo said the number grew 24.4 percent compared to the same period the previous year (year on year/yoy) of 110.841 SPT.

"Meanwhile, as many as 4.1 million SPTs have been received for individual taxpayer SPTs, an increase of around 30 percent compared to last year's 3.1 million SPTs," he said in response to journalists' questions, Wednesday, February 22.

According to Suryo, the total SPT received by his party reached 4.2 million SPT. This amount jumped 29.9 percent year on year.

"The number of SPT received the previous year on the same date was only 3.3 million SPT," he said.

For information, SPT reporting for individual taxpayers is set to be completed on March 31, 2023. Meanwhile, SPT reporting for business entities will be completed on April 30, 2023.

Meanwhile, the realization of tax revenue up to January 2023 is known to be IDR 162.2 trillion. This achievement shot up 48.6 percent yoy from January 2022 which amounted to IDR 109.2 trillion. This incision also boosted state revenue to IDR 232.2 trillion, an increase of 48 percent on an annual basis.
