"Not Paid The Debt Of Rp. 2.93 Billion," Waskita Karya Was Sued By PKPU

PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk was sued for Suspension of Debt Payment Obligations (PKPU). The lawsuit is related to a request for debt repayment of Rp. 2.93 billion from PT Megah Bangun Baja Semesta.

Quoted from the disclosure of information on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), the Company has received a letter from the Central Jakarta District Court Class 1A Special Number: W10.U1.1067.HT.03.II.2023.MH regarding Calls for the Discussion in Case Number: 38/Pdt.Sus/PKPU/2023/PN.Niaga.Jkt.Pst which will be held on February 21, 2023.

PT Megah Bangun Baja Semesta is the Petitioner who is one of the vendors of the Minangkabau International Airport Terminal Development Project, Amir Depati Bandar Terminal Phase I and Waskita Rajawali Tower Renovation.

"The company is committed to always being guided by the principles of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) and complying with and following all legal processes in accordance with the provisions of laws that apply with good faith," Waskita said in a statement, quoted on Tuesday, February 21.

Still quoted from the same source, Waskita's management also emphasized that the PKPU lawsuit had no impact on the Company's business activities both operationally and financially.

"We can inform you that we received the relation to the PKPU lawsuit on February 17, 2023," Waskita wrote.

As previously reported, the shares of PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk (WSKT) have been temporarily suspended from trading or suspended by the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The reason is because of the delay in the payment of the 15th interest on the Shelf-Registered Bonds III Waskita Karya Phase IV Year 2019 Series B.

Special Staff to the Minister of SOEs Arya Sinulingga explained that bank loans are part of the restructuring in the context of restoring the company's performance. However, this restructuring has not been carried out on bonds.

So, continued Arya, it is necessary to treat all lenders the same way.

"There are bonds that have not done that, have not been restructured. So we are asked for equal treatment, equalization of all of our actions," he told reporters, written on Sunday, February 19.

Arya said, the naming of this action made Waskita not pay her debt. Even so, Arya said that the company is currently waiting for the results from the ongoing General Meeting of Bondholders (RUPO).

"But now it's the RUPO, we'll see the results," he said.
