JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga visited the Segiri Main Market, Sidodadi, Samarinda Ulu District. This is to review the prices and supplies of basic necessities.

"We came to Segiri Market to see and visit several market traders and check several supplies of basic necessities and prices," said Jerry quoting Antara.

He put forward, in direct checking there was one basic ingredient that experienced an increase from the Highest Retail Price Circular (HET), namely cooking oil, with HET of IDR 14 thousand per liter or IDR 15,500 per kilogram.

Then, there are several traders who sell at a price of Rp. 16 thousand because they claim to buy with distributors at a rather expensive price.

"Some of the specifics we checked, for example, our oil, we confirmed and got information that oil prices are a bit above the highest retail price," explained Jerry.

Wemandag asked the Head of Samarinda City Disdag Marnabas to stabilize cooking oil prices and even ensure that traders sell at a price of Rp. 14,000 per liter, it is necessary to lower prices from distributors and agents who sell to traders.

"Therefore, this is a finding for us, asking for help for Mr. Kadis can ensure the price is Rp. 14,000 per liter to reach traders," he added.

In addition, the Deputy Minister of Trade said that for basic needs other than cooking oil, other necessities tend to remain stable before the month of Ramadan.

"This is the most important thing when the principal price is stable and availability exists because it will easily suppress inflation in welcoming the fasting month and Eid," he explained.

He continues to say that the availability and supply of basic commodities in Samarinda is still within reasonable limits, and efforts can be made to continue to be stable, because this will continue to be a concern for the Government.

"When stocks are safe and abundant, of course the price will be controlled automatically, this is the most important thing, because we see chilies, tomatoes, garlic, shallots still fluctuating and relatively the price range is still reasonable, hopefully this can continue to last," he concluded

Meanwhile, the Head of the Samarinda City Trade Office, Marnabas, said that the city government continues to try to suppress city inflation, by always monitoring prices in real time every day.

"So if there is a significant price increase, we usually immediately jump in, and make efforts to suppress inflation, such as cheap markets, collaborating with Varia Niaga partners to foster the harvest of fostered farmers, as we do for chili farmers," said Marnabas.

Separately, one of the traders of Pasar Segiri Anto said that the current price of basic commodities tends to be stable, such as shallots, garlic, and onions is still the same, ranging from Rp. 25 thousand to Rp. 35 thousand per kilogram.

"For green vegetables, it tends to be cheap, because local vegetable farmers still experience an abundant harvest season, while red chilies have increased to Rp55 thousand per kilogram from the previous Rp45 thousand normal price due to supplies from Sulawesi being a bit late," said Anto after being visited by the Deputy Minister of Trade.

While conducting a review at the Segiri Market, Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga was accompanied directly by the Head of the Marnabas Trade Service and Acting Assistant II Abdullah who immediately checked various needs at the Segiri Main Market, had a dialogue with several traders.
