JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, is optimistic that national economic growth can reach more than 5.3 per cent on an annual basis or higher than the achievements of economic growth throughout 2022.

"Yesterday, government spending was relatively negative. If pushed, economic growth could be higher than 5.3 per cent", said Airlangga as quoted from Antara, Tuesday, February 14.

To increase economic growth, Airlangga said the government made various policies, one of which was encouraging the implementation of low-carbon economic activities through carbon trading.

"In the Financial Sector Development and Strengthening Law (UU P2SK) carbon trading is included on the Indonesian Stock Exchange, we are in preparation for that. The Commissioner of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) will also be added specifically to handle carbon trading", he explained.

Infrastructure development in the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago will also be continued which is expected to leverage economic growth.

In addition, the government will also continue to downstream natural resource-based commodities, not only for nickel but also for other commodities such as bauxite and tin, through a policy in the P2SK Law which allows banks to provide bullion services.

The government is also optimistic that economic growth can be accelerated by implementing Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perpu) Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation which will anticipate global economic uncertainty.

"With this Perpu, legal certainty can work, government regulations that are forbidden to be made, we can make them again", he said.
