JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reminded the public that financing or credit from banks, especially People's Business Credit (KUR) is used for productive purposes.

He asked not to be used to buy consumptive goods. Especially with the aim of showing off wealth or 'arrest'.

"Don't buy, (for) those used to be arbitrary, arrogant, just look at the neighbors," said President Jokowi at the handover of KUR 2023 and the launch of the Digital Farmer Card for Subsidized Pupuk in North Aceh quoting between, Friday, February 10.

Jokowi said that if the financing is only used for consumptive goods, just like cars for "arrest", then the public is at risk of not being able to pay installments to the bank. As a result, the consumptive goods that have been purchased can be withdrawn by the bank because they have become collateral.

"Believe me, six months after that, I couldn't pay in installments, suddenly the six months (car) of the Avanza was gone," he said.

Better, said Jokowi, financing from banks is used for productive capital goods. If you want to buy a car, people can buy a commercial car such as a 'pick up' type for the need to increase the business scale.

On that occasion, President Jokowi had a dialogue with one of the recipients of financing from PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), namely Zulhelmi, who is a fertilizer seller.

Zulhelmi received financing of Rp. 100 million from BSI which he used to improve the fertilizer sales business.

"Incidentally, I took four years, sir, I paid around IDR 2,300,000 per month," said Zulhelmi.

The President explained that BSI provides financing facilities with a total of IDR 3 trillion for Aceh Province, out of the total provided by BSI of IDR 14 trillion for all countries.

"If it was denied by the President Director (BSI) Rp3 trillion, it would trigger, strengthen, develop the economy in Aceh. I am very happy, I asked earlier, there was Rp100 million in financing, there was Rp50 million, there was Rp20 million, it could be Rp500 million," he said.

The President advised people who receive financing to be disciplined in paying installments every month.
