Regarding The Susi Air Fired Aircraft, The Ministry Of Transportation: Pilots And Passengers In Search

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has received a report regarding the case of the attack on an aircraft belonging to the Susi Air PK-BVY airline in Lapter Paro, Papua.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation, Adita Irawati, said that based on the report, the PK-BVY aircraft for the Timika-Paro pioneer flight route took off normally from Timika Airport at 05.30 LT, and landed at 06.17 LT at Paro Airport.

"After a few hours, Station Susi Air in Timika received information from the Nduga Regency Police Chief that the plane was damaged (burned), as well as the condition of the pilot and passenger is still in the search process," he told reporters, Tuesday, February 7.

The Ministry of Transportation, continued Adita, has collaborated with the relevant authorities to follow up on the incident of burning the Susi Air plane.

"Currently, the Directorate General of Hubud continues to coordinate with the security forces of the Indonesian Air Force, and it is planned that the Indonesian Air Force will fly back across Paro Airport to help observe the situation there," he said.

Adita said, the Directorate General of Hubud had also ordered the Head of the Merauke Regional Airport Authority X to continue monitoring.

"And convey the current conditions at the first opportunity," he explained.

As previously reported, Susi Air is currently checking its plane which is suspected of being burned in Paro Airfield, Paro District, Nduga Regency, Central Papua. Checks were carried out to determine whether there was an attempt to sabotage from another party.

"We are making efforts to check whether there was sabotage by certain parties who carried out the destruction related to the plane," Susi Air's attorney, Donal Fariz, told reporters, Tuesday, February 7.

Donal ensured the plane was suitable for use. In fact, before the landing incident, it was done well.

Not only that, other efforts were also made, such as finding out the condition of the pilot and the passengers. "We are coordinating and communicating with the relevant authorities to help speed up the process of knowing about the incident, the existence of pilots, and related things," he stressed.

"This is an incident we don't want," Donal continued.
