JAKARTA - President Director of MIND ID Hendi Prio Santoso revealed that the operation of the South Sumatra 8 Steam Power Plant (PLTU) owned by PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) has not been able to operate in the near future because it is still experiencing problems.

In fact, it is known that this PLTU construction has reached 98 percent.

Hendi said that this operation still had to wait for the readiness of PT PLN (Persero) to absorb the electricity produced.

"PLTU sumsel 8 is currently ready 98 percent. Actually, this is only waiting for PLN's readiness to absorb the necessary production results," Hendi said in a Hearing Meeting with Commission VII DPR RI quoted on Tuesday, February 7.

Hendi continued, the obstacle that PLN is still facing is that the construction of a high voltage network that is being built still cannot be in accordance with time plans.

Thus, it is estimated that the operation of this project will last for the next 6 months.

Just so you know, the PLTU Sumsel 8 project, located in Muara Enim, will enter the Commercial Operation Date (COD) stage in the fourth quarter of this year.

The coal plant with the mouth of the South Sumatra-8 mine or also the Tanjung Lalang PLTU is located in Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra and has a capacity of 2x620 megawat (MW).

This PLTU is part of the 35,000 MW project built by PTBA through PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP) as Independent Power Producer or IPP.
