JAKARTA - The national airline Garuda Indonesia continues to have intensive discussions with relevant stakeholders regarding the management of the readiness to use the headscarf for flight attendant uniforms.

Garuda Indonesia in principle does not prohibit the use of headscarves for flight attendants. This is in line with the company's commitment to prioritizing the principle of inclusiveness in all of its employee professions, including flight crews.

This commitment is currently being put forward by opening options and discussion rooms for the use of headscarves for Garuda Indonesia flight attendants.

"We have the same values and vision for input from various parties regarding the attributes of flight crew uniforms, especially regarding the use of headscarves for flight attendants," said Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfan Setiaputra, in a written statement, Saturday, February 4.

"For this reason, we continue to intensify the discussion, considering that this needs to be carefully and wisely addressed, especially regarding the readiness to use the headscarf on flight attendant uniforms which are not only reviewed from the aspect of service and safety," he continued.

Irfan added that his party also ensures the maintenance of the interests of flight attendants as individuals who choose the option to use the headscarf in their readiness as the front line for Garuda Indonesia flight services which is engaged in the full service flight segment.

"This is what we believe needs to be based on a prudent and comprehensive study on the adjustment of the flight crew uniform attribute policy, both from operational aspects and other supporting aspects, to the interests of the flight crew profession," he said.

Therefore, continued Irfan, currently Garuda Indonesia continues to establish intensive communication with various relevant stakeholders to ensure the readiness to use the headscarf for Garuda Indonesia flight attendants. It is hoped that this policy can be based on comprehensive operational policies

Currently, through a number of flight route services, Garuda Indonesia has also implemented adjustments to aircraft crew uniform attributes referring to destination regulations and related to the interests of Hajj flight services where flight attendants wear odd uniforms accompanied by headscarves.
