JAKARTA - Subsidized cooking oil, ManyaKitama, is now difficult to find in Surabaya. Inevitably, it is balanced with the soaring price of cooking oil for the brand.

One of the traders at the Addrejo Market in Surabaya, Munani, said that the lack of supply of Minya Kita had occurred two months ago. The scarcity caused an increase in the price of the product.

"It's really difficult, it's been almost two months. Selling it now is Rp. 16,000, previously it was Rp. 14,000, it keeps going up and down," said Munani.

Munani admitted that the price increase above government regulations had an impact on lower public interest in purchasing subsidy products. People today tend to switch to other cooking oil, because prices are still affordable.

"This is still there but has spent stock, since two weeks. No one bought it. People changed to buy other brands that were cheaper, I took Rp. 14,000, sold it for Rp. 14,500," he also said.

Fatimah, a trader at Pucang Anom, said the same thing. He said, Minya Kita has been difficult to find since two months ago.

"The scarcity of products, it's been two months. I don't sell at all," said Fatimah.

Fatimah said that the government had indeed set the Highest Retail Price for MinyaKita at Rp. 14,000, but the price had increased.

"Yesterday, IDR 12,500 sold for IDR 15,000, the price tag is different. IDR 17,800 for Kulak (large purchases), so I don't sell it. Now people buy other brands," he said.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, is preparing a scheme to address the issue of increasing the price of MinyaKita cooking oil through a market operation scheme in the local area.

"If the highest retail price is higher, we have prepared a scheme to overcome this. The Cooperatives Service will coordinate with the East Java Industry and Trade Department to carry out market operations," said Eri Cahyadi, in Surabaya, Saturday.

For this reason, Mayor Eri asked the Surabaya City Small and Medium Enterprises and Trade Cooperative Office to coordinate with the East Java Provincial Trade Office (Diperindag) to hold market operations.
