JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) is conducting joint promotional cooperation (joint promotion) with Qatar Airways. This collaboration is carried out as an effort to develop marketing of Indonesian tourism destinations, so as to increase the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia.

"This collaboration is in joint promotion efforts, including several other programs such as collaborative marketing, digital advertising, and other collaborations which ultimately increase the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia," Sandiaga said in a written statement, Saturday, February 4.

This collaboration was marked by the signing of an MoU between the Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Ni Made Ayu Marthini and Qatar Airways Vice President Airways Jared Lee at the JW Marriott Hotel Yogyakarta, along with the International event "ASEAN Tourism Forum".

Sandiaga said the collaboration was a follow-up to previous meetings, including the working visit of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy to Qatar, some time ago.

He hopes that this collaboration will be established in the long term and can be a door for strategic cooperation with other related parties, so that they can jointly advance tourism and the creative economy in Indonesia.

Therefore, Sandiaga hopes that this collaboration can increase the number of direct flights, as well as the capacity of passenger seats. These two are the most important factors in an effort to achieve foreign tourist visits targeted to reach 7.4 million tourists, this year.

"This prayer is a very busy hub for flights from Europe, so we can increase the number of tourist visits from Europe to Indonesian destinations through the Doha hub. India is also one of the target markets that we are developing and several other initiatives in promoting country destinations," he explained.

Through this collaboration with Qatar Airways, it is hoped that it can increase the number of direct flights to Jakarta and Bali, as well as other destinations in Indonesia. "This is a collaboration that we want to improve, to be more equitable for the revival and acceleration of recovery in the tourism sector," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Ni Made Ayu Marthini said this collaboration is a strategic step for the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to promote the brand "Underful Indonesia" throughout the world, thereby increasing the image of Indonesian tourism after the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Currently, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is intensively cooperating with the sharing of airlines both nationally and internationally to facilitate and expand connectivity to key destinations in an effort to achieve the national target of 7.4 million foreign tourists and 1.4 billion domestic tourist movements," he said.
