JAKARTA - The Public Company Logistics Affairs Agency (Perum Bulog) noted that the realization of rice imports until January 27 2023 reached 191,792 tons. While the assignment given by the government is 500,000 tons.

Bulog Main Director Budi Waseso said the imported rice that has entered Indonesia will add to the rice stock for the government's rice reserves (CBP) in January this year.

"The realization of rice equivalent procurement in 2023 until January 27, 2023, is 197,865 tonnes. This consists of domestic procurement of 6,073 tons and imports of 191,792 tons, of which 500,000 tons have arrived," Buwas said in a joint hearing (RDP) with Commission IV of the Indonesian Parliament, Tuesday, January 31.

Meanwhile, the realization of rice equivalent procurement up to December 31, 2022 was 1,051,405 tons.

In order to maintain the adequacy of rice to ensure the affordability aspect of food, Buwas said, Bulog was also tasked with absorbing 2.4 million tons of rice this year.

The details for the procurement of rice for farmers are 1.4 million tons, and rice stock for CBP is 1 million tons.
