JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno encourages creative economy actors (ekraf) to maximize the use of digital platforms in promoting and selling, so that they can reach a wider market.

Menparekraf Sandiaga mengatakan, saat ini banyak platform digital atau media sosial yang mampu mendorong produk pelaku ekraf dan UMKM naik kelas, salah satunya TikTok.

"Take advantage and take advantage of the digital platform that is already available to improve welfare," Sandiaga said in a written statement, Monday, January 30.

Referring to the Hootsuite (We are Social) report as of February 2022, everyone in Indonesia uses the internet with an average time of 8 hours 36 minutes per day and uses social media for 3 hours 17 minutes.

This is a potential for MSME product or actors to communicate products through the help and amplification of content creators.

Indonesia itself is the second largest TikTok user country in the world.

ByteDance stated that TikTok has 92.07 million users aged 18 years and over in Indonesia in early 2022.

Sandiaga also appreciated TikTok, which was initially only known as a platform to provide an expression space, but is now transforming as the world's largest application to beat Google and Meta.

"According to a Populix survey report entitled 'The Social Commerce Landscape in Indonesia', as many as 45 percent of respondents use TikTok Shop in shopping compared to WhatsApp, Instagram Shopping, and Facebook Marketing. The Social Commerce trend is predicted to increase in 2023, beating conventional e-commerce, internet users will increasingly use social media platforms, including this TikTok Shop for shopping," he explained.

He also encouraged creative economy actors to create unique and interesting content to participate in promoting their creative economy and MSME products.

"MSME actors take advantage of interesting features to be able to market their products on TikTok, such as TikTok shops. TikTok changes a lot and scales up the businesses of Umkm actors through TikTok live," said Sandiaga.

Sandiaga said that his party also encourages content creators to create unique and interesting content, as well as promote the tourism sector and the creative economy in their area in order to support the target of 1.4 billion domestic tourist movements by 2023.

"The content creator industry market in Indonesia is estimated to reach IDR 4 trillion to IDR 7 trillion. The value will increase five times in 2027," he added.

According to Sandiaga, this is a tangible form of the work of the nation's children which should be echoed nationally and internationally.

"We from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy are ready to collaborate more concretely with the Digital Hub in advancing this ecosystem, including welcoming investors in the tourism sector," he concluded.
