The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (Ditjen Hubud) of the Ministry of Transportation has begun to prepare facilities for the Komodo Airport infrastructure in Labuan Bajo.

Director General of Civil Aviation M. Kristi Endah Murni said the facilities and infrastructure at the airport needed to be prepared to support the smooth running of flights starting from arrivals to the return of delegates and state guests.

"We have conducted direct visits to Komodo Airport, several operational support schemes will be carried out so that the flight will run smoothly," Kristi said in an official statement, Tuesday, January 24.

For your information, currently Komodo Airport has a runway length of 2,650 and a width of 45 meters that can serve aircraft type A320 and B738, the apron area reaches 31,000 m2 for seven parking stands with details of four narrow bodies and three propeller aircraft.

Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) also has a passenger terminal covering an area of 13,366 m2 which can accommodate up to 1,100,000 passengers per year.

Four Other Airports Also Prepared

"As an effort to anticipate, we will prepare an alternative airport closest to Komodo Airport as a parking lot for delegates," he said.

In addition to some of the facilities above, Kristi said, a number of other supporting facilities are also being prepared to support the activities of the ASEAN Summit, including Customs, Imigration and Quarantine (CIQ) inspection facilities and helipad facilities for medical evacuation.

Kristi also asked the Head of the Bali Regional IV Airport Authority Office to coordinate and cooperate with all relevant parties to ensure the completeness of facilities and infrastructure at Komodo Airport, in order to fully support the ASEAN Summit.

The success of the ASEAN Summit will certainly not be separated from the involvement of all parties. I hope we can bring Indonesia's good name to the international eye and introduce tourism in Labuan Bajo to be more famous as another interesting tourist destination besides Bali," he concluded.
