JAKARTA - The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) targets to produce 204 to 206 liquefied natural gas (LNG) in 2023.

Deputy for Finance and Commercialization of SKK Migas, Kurnia Chairi, explained that this target increased compared to the realization in 2022 of 196 cargoes.

"For LNG in 2022, the realization was recorded at 196 cargoes originating from Bontang 81 and 114.7 tough," he said in a press conference quoted on Thursday, January 19.

He detailed that of the 196 cargoes, there were 140.3 cargoes intended for exports and 55.8 cargoes for domestic demand.

"For 2023 itself, we plan that in Bontang there will be 80 or 81 cargoes, while from Tangguh it is projected that around 124-126 cargoes, of course the amount to be exported is approximately the same as those realized in 2022," added Kurnia.

He continued, SKK Migas will also review the potential for uncommitted cargo gas in 2023 as many as 9 cargoes, of which 5 cargoes will be used to meet the needs of Pupuk Iskandar Muda gas

"In accordance with the direction of policy, we will optimize domestic use," explained Kurnia.

Meanwhile, the Head of SKK Migas Dwi Soetjipto predicts that the demand for gas will still be high in 2023 because gas is still an option for the energy transition.

"Gas is energy in the transition period and natural gas needs to Europe. It is estimated that LNG demand will continue to increase with a long period of time," concluded Dwi.
