The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is ready to build 151 permanent housing units (Huntap) for communities affected by the earthquake in Cianjur Regency, West Java.

"Currently, the construction of permanent housing phase II for Cianjur communities affected by the earthquake is ongoing. We are targeting 151 Huntap units with RISHA earthquake-resistant housing technology to be built on 1.9 hectares of land that has been prepared by the local government," said the Director General of Housing. PUPR Ministry Iwan Suprijanto in a written statement in Jakarta, quoted on Tuesday, January 17.

Iwan explained that the construction of the Huntap will continue to be accelerated so that it can be used for the relocation of people whose houses are damaged and located on the Cugenang active fault line.

"The location of the Huntap construction is very strategic because it is located in the Mande District Office and on the side of the provincial road. We will also equip this Huntap with adequate infrastructure, facilities, and utilities, so that people can enjoy occupying new housing," he explained.

His party also appointed the Implementing Contractor of PT Brantas A Bibraya (Persero) and Consultant Management of PT Indah Karya (Persero) to carry out the construction of the Huntap.

Meanwhile, Secretary of the Directorate General of Housing M Hidayat together with the Head of the Java II Housing Provision Implementation Center (BP2P), KiAgoos Egie Ismail visited the location of the Phase II Huntap construction in Mande District, on Friday, January 13.

Based on the results of the field visit, there are six RISHA units that have been completed, 54 units installed, 50 units covered by roofs, and 82 units ready for construction.

The condition of the RISHA construction site as much as 40 percent is flat land and 60 percent of contoured land.

The plan is that the PUPR Ministry will also equip the building with drill wells and electricity networks.

"We hope that the construction of the RISHA can be completed soon and the people affected by the earthquake can be relocated immediately," he added.
