Regarding Work Accidents At PetroChina Jambi, Wamenaker Appealed To All Companies To Pay Attention To Work Safety

JAKARTA - SKK Migas together with Cooperation Contract Contract Contractors (KKKS) PetroChina International Jabung Ltd received a visit from Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor in Tanjung Jabung Barat district, Jambi, recently.

Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor hopes that SKK Migas together with Cooperation Contract Contract Contract Contractors (KKKS) can correct wrong information related to community development and the problem of recruitment of local workers to communities in the regions.

Regarding the work accident that occurred some time ago, Afriansyah said that the handling carried out by SKK Migas and PetroChina against the victim had been done well.

"My message, not only PetroChina, but all companies investing in Indonesia can keep all work in accordance with procedures, not only paying attention to work safety, but also being expected to pay attention to worker insurance, how the welfare of these workers is ensured by the company that employs it," Afriansyah said in his official statement, Monday, January 16.

Afriansyah ensured that the government would not hinder the activities of companies investing in Indonesia, but still emphasize the work safety aspect.

In addition, he asked that local workforce absorption be optimized for work at PetroChina.

"We will see again later that personnel who are competent and have skills, even the local government together with all companies can provide a platform in order to create skills for local human resources by providing special training so that they are fit to be employed," he explained.

On this occasion, Afriansyah also said that all work systems within PetroChina were in accordance with statutory regulations, including local labor recruitment procedures.

Meanwhile, Vice President Human Resources & Relations PetroChina Dencio Renato said that the visit of Wamenaker Arfiansyah Noor to Jambi was to see firsthand the location of the work accident some time ago.

Regarding victims who are still being treated, said Dencio, his party through drilling service companies will fulfill all the responsibilities of the workers.

"In addition to covering the maintenance costs of the three victims, the company also provides hotel facilities and food assistance for family members who accompany them during the treatment period," said Dencio.

For your information, SKK Migas together with PetroChina ensured that the company (partners) would cover all costs for handling victims and would guarantee work accidents in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, and asked KKKS PetroChina to support the best efforts in its medical handling.

Meanwhile, SKK Migas and KKKS have an incident rate / IR or a very low incidence rate of work accidents in the world or 0.25 with a total working hours of 310 million.

This achievement is the lowest incident rate below the world's average gas company over the past 10 years.
