JAKARTA - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo together with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) will hold an annual event titled BIMP-EAGA Maritime 2023 at the JW Marriott Hotel, Jakarta, on 21-23 February.

BIMP-EAGA Maritime 2023 is an annual event in Indonesia to continue to promote and facilitate trade and economic development throughout the BIMP-EAGA region through transportation and logistics.

"This event focuses on maritime, logistics, and transportation. We hope that there will be business transactions, there will be strengthening in realizing export connectivity, so that we can realize the government's goals in a short time", said the Head of the Logistics and Supply Chain Agency for Kadin Indonesia Akbar Djohan at the Kadin Tower, Jakarta, Thursday, January 12.

Later, the event will feature more than 30 world-class industry leaders to discuss EAGA's trading economy, market potential, and innovation within EAGA's ports to enhance economic competitiveness.

"We really ask stakeholders, both from the side of regulators and actors, from the national and international scale to enliven this event, so that it can be more concrete and can be executed in a short time", said Djohan.

With this event, said Djohan, his party hopes that there will be a better economic turnaround compared to during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"If we talk about the logistics of the ecosystem, it is no less than 2,000 trillion, both from the maritime side, meaning from the modes of the sea, air, and even land transportation. So, this is approximately 2,000 trillion. We are also not too fanciful, at least better from the pandemic, yes", he added.

For your information, the BIMP-EAGA forum was founded in 1994 by Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines to accelerate socio-economic development in the four countries.

The forum was held to enhance subregional cooperation among the four countries in the Southeast Asia Region and holds meetings annually.
