PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Sumatera Utara (Bank Sumut) will add to the list of regional banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The company is reportedly officially receiving a preemptive statement from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) as of January 3, 2023.

Director of Finance and Information Technology of Bank Sumut Arieta Aryanti said that the plan to go public or release Bank Sumut's initial shares on the IDX is one of the efforts to improve the performance and assets of banks owned by the people of North Sumatra and also to strengthen the management and implementation of the company's risk management.

"With the financial performance that produces an increase in profit, it is hoped that the contribution to local revenue (PAD) will also increase. Profit from each regional-owned enterprise (BUMD) will become the original regional income (PAD) that can be used for regional economic development," said Arieta in a statement quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 4.

Arieta said that Bank Sumut became a mainstay bank to help and encourage economic growth and development, especially in North Sumatra and nationally in general.

In the midst of unfavorable economic pressure and at the age of more than 61 years, Bank Sumut has succeeded in utilizing the momentum to transform and improve the quality of service and performance.

"Tantangan di era digitalisasi yang semakin besar, seiring dengan tinggi persaingan usaha di sektor perbankan mendorong bank-bank untuk bergerak lebih dynamic untuk menciptakan inovasi produk dan memperbaiki kualitas layananan, salah satunya melalui digitalisasi perbankan," kata Arieta.

Responding to the challenges of banking digitalization competition, in the last three years Bank Sumut has developed many digital channel services, including mobile banking services North Sumatra Mobile, Lakupandai North Sumatra Link to collaboration with fintech, e-commerce and also collaborations with other banks to expand reach.

In addition, Bank Sumut also developed internet banking for corporations and services that support the electronification of local government transactions, including local government credit cards (KKPD) to QRIS services for MSMEs. Bank Sumut continues to strive to become the leading BPD in digital transformation.

In line with the transformation effort, the performance of Bank Sumut towards the end of 2022 is getting more solid, where the total assets reached IDR 40.6 trillion in the third quarter of 2022, up 2.7 percent (year on year) from the same period the previous year of IDR 39.5 trillion.

Bank Sumut juga berhasil menuntukkan laba sebesar Rp521 miliar hingga September 2022 atau tumbuh 12,3 persen dibandingkan dengan September 2021 sebesar Rp463 miliar.

The profit target until December is projected to exceed the 2022 Bank Business Plan (RBB) target of IDR 665 billion. Meanwhile, Bank Sumut's lending in the third quarter of 2022 also increased 9.3 percent to IDR 26.8 trillion, from the third quarter of 2021 of IDR 24.6 trillion.

The business sectors are a concern for Bank Sumut, one of which is by continuing to increase the distribution of People's Business Credit (KUR), which in 2022 is targeted to reach IDR 1 trillion.
