Through 20 Managed Airports, Angkasa Pura II TOLD 62 Million Passengers In 2022

PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) serves the departure and arrival of around 62 million aircraft passengers at 20 airports managed by the company throughout 2022.

"The number of passenger movements has skyrocketed 100 percent compared to 2021 as many as 31 million passengers," said AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin, quoted from Antara, Monday, January 2.

Awaluddin said, the number of flights (take off and landing) was recorded at around 510,000 flights, an increase of about 40 percent from 2021 as many as 360,000 flights.

He said the significant increase in flight traffic at AP II airport was driven by three things, namely improving pandemic conditions which grew demand for travel by plane, the success of AP II in ensuring airport facilities and services as well as the availability of flight time slots, as well as the ability of airlines to provide fleets.

According to him, the improving pandemic conditions also allow for the implementation of Eid 2022 transportation, as well as Christmas and New Year's 2022/2023 transportation, which is one of the driving factors for flight demand.

"We are grateful for the support of the Ministry of SOEs, the Ministry of Transportation, AirNav Indonesia, the TNI and Polri, as well as all other stakeholders so that during the peak season period where high demand, AP II and airlines can accommodate existing requests," he said.

In the implementation of Nataru transportation which began on December 19, 2022, flight traffic at AP II airport was recorded to be quite high.

The cumulative number of passenger movements on 19-31 December 2022 (H-6 to D+6 Christmas) at 20 AP II airports was recorded at 2.72 million passengers, an increase of about 64 percent compared to the same period last year of 1.66 million passengers.

Meanwhile, aircraft movements reached 21,572 flights, an increase of 36 percent, and cargo transportation of 26.79 million kilograms.

Especially for Soekarno-Hatta Airport, on Nataru 19-31 December 2022 transportation, passenger movements reached 1.69 million passengers, an increase of 65 percent, with aircraft movements recorded 12,234 flights, an increase of 38 percent.

"Cumulatively at 20 AP II airports, the peak of the departure flow is on December 23, 2022 or D-2 Christmas with the number of passengers reaching 242,378 passengers and flights reaching 1,814 flights," he said.

Meanwhile, Awaluddin said the peak arrival flow is estimated to be on January 2, 2023 with a total of 220,000 passengers with around 1,600 flights.

"The peak of the arrival flow is on January 2, 2022, we urge airplane passengers to set the time so that they can process departures properly," he said.

He added that AP II and stakeholders carry out anticipatory steps in dealing with extreme weather, including ensuring that air and land side facilities can remain optimal, including runway and taxiway and always in good condition.

AP II, airlines and AirNav Indonesia also pay attention to delay procedures, then divert (flight diversion), as well as procedures for aircraft to return to the apron (RTA) and planes to return to the airport (return to base/RTB).
