JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) plays an active role in providing competent human resources (HR) to meet the needs of the industrial world.
This is because skilled human resources are one of the important factors in supporting increased productivity and competitiveness in the industrial sector.
"Efforts to provide competent industrial human resources are a challenge at this time, because there is a discrepancy between supply from the world of education and demand from the industrial work market, so it needs to be harmonized," said Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita at the Groundbreaking of the Bogor SMK-SMAK Education Building, Monday, December 26.
Agus said, through all vocational education units owned by the Ministry of Industry, his party is determined to continue to develop vocational education which is the best practice link and match partnership between the world of education and the industrial world.
"The key to success in the implementation of education and vocational training lies in the orientation of the event which focuses on fulfilling demand, not on supply," he said.
This is in accordance with the mandate of Presidential Regulation Number 68 of 2022 concerning the Revitalization of Vocational Education and Training.
This regulation states that vocational education and training programs can produce workers that are in line with industrial needs, as well as being able to develop into independent entrepreneurs.
Therefore, the Ministry of Industry supports the birth of competent human resources in supporting the performance of the national industry.
"Mr. President has mandated to make fundamental changes in the management of education and vocational training, namely by conducting a comprehensive orchestration, as has been done by countries that have successfully managed their human resources, including industrial human resources," Agus explained.
He is optimistic that the construction of new buildings and educational facilities at SMK-SMAK Bogor will be able to present a vocational education ecosystem that consistently produces creative and innovative ideas, both from teachers and students, so that it will continue to develop productively.
This is in line with the opportunity for demographic bonuses and Indonesia's efforts to get out of middle income traps towards high-income countries.
"This new building that was built is expected not only to strengthen and increase the spirit of the Bogor SMAK academic community, but will also inspire the birth of various ideas and innovations that solidify the work of Bogor SMK-SMAK as a global and character-minded vocational school," explained Agus.
The school, which was previously located in Ciheuleut, Bogor, will be relocated to Tanah Baru, Bogor, with an area of 35,000 square meters.
In addition to having complete school facilities, later the school building can accommodate 1,200 students for learning activities, laboratories, and extracurricular activities. The new SMK-SMAK Bogor area will also be equipped with a viewing deck and retention pond.
SMK-SMAK Bogor has implemented a learning method in a dual system, which prioritizes the proportion of 70 percent practice and 30 percent theory.
In addition, SMK-SMAK Bogor also applies an integrated curriculum between the Ministry of Education and Culture, international industry, and the Indonesian National Work Competency Standard (SKKNI).
The learning length at SMK-SMAK Bogor is four years, including an internship program in the industry for six months.
Minister of Industry Agus appreciated the Bogor SMK-SMAK for its high absorption and for achieving the highest Computer-Based Writing Examination (UTBK) at the Vocational School level throughout Indonesia in 2022.
"Every year, Bogor Vocational High School graduates have been absorbed in the industry at graduation. Currently, Bogor Vocational High Schools are the best vocational schools in Indonesia. This is our common pride," he said.
Then, the focus of SMPK-SMAK Bogor on one field of chemical analysis makes the difference between other vocational education units. Plus, this school consistently looks for partners, making it easier to develop itself.
"We also want this success to be transmitted or multiplicized, so that SMK-SMAK Bogor can become a living laboratory that can continue to develop, not only at the national level, but also at the global level," concluded Agus.
